UberEats riders go on strike as pay row continues

Hungry Plymouth people wanting meals delivered to their homes today may end up having to go to the takeaway – because the city’s UberEats riders are being urged to “strike” in pursuit of better pay.

About 30 of Plymouth’s Uber Eats delivery workers have been encouraged to stop working today (Friday, March 15, 2019) as part of an ongoing series of unofficial actions aimed at forcing bosses come to the negotiating table.

Workers say they can earn less than £4 for a delivery and get nothing at quiet times of the day when they are left twiddling their thumbs despite having turned up for work.
